Seed & Venture Capital Program Management

Evolving capital challenges, program administration and ongoing sustainability are issues that will drive this roundtable on early stage capital funds. The discussion will emphasize State Small Business Credit Initiative (SSBCI) programs but all are welcome to identify common concerns and opportunities for future collaboration.

Agenda

1:30 PM – 2:00 PM | About Public-Sector Sponsored Seed and Venture Capital Programs

A welcome period will give all participants an opportunity to understand the goal of SSBCI and hear the latest impact report. All attendees, whether state, local or other, will have an opportunity to introduce and describe their organization, programs and funds.

2:00 PM – 3:15 PM | Interactive Discussion on Best Practice Sharing

This portion of the roundtable will provide program managers time to discuss lessons learned and how they have overcome the challenges of running public-sector sponsored seed and venture capital programs. The majority of discussion time will occur within groups organized by program type. Following the small group discussion, the groups will report out to provide time to get broader perspective on common issues.

3:15 PM – 4:00 PM | Future Opportunities: Sustainability and Communication

During this session, program managers will discuss their organizations’ long-term plans for their seed and venture capital programs and the outlook for the future of public-sector sponsored capital investments. Finally, this session will include dialogue on maintaining a network of program managers to continue to build discussion and collaboration across states on best practices and to continue program reporting.
